5 Things Worth Your Time When Starting a Business

There’s truly no better business education than DOING the work! 💪

Starting my second biz feels a lot different than when I was getting started the first time around. So today I’m sharing some of the biggest lessons I’ve learned over the years that I’m keeping in mind:

Your Branding Matters

Your branding is what sets you apart and what will attract your ideal clients so make sure it is aligned with your mission and personality! Definitely something worth spending time on and I don’t just say this because I help others with their design. Our branding at Bold & Pop was one of the things that really helped us stand out. It helped us attract our ideal clients, it let people know what it would be like working with us, and it helped us make a personal connection with people even if we hadn’t chatted with them yet. So you can bet I’m definitely following that approach with Going Bold Studio too!

Show Your face

As a service-based small business, a big reason people want to work with you is because of YOU! There’s no better way to let people know who you are, build trust and connect you to your biz than showing your face. I’m talking on your website, social media and in your marketing efforts! Prepare to see my face all over allll of the things over here!

Done is better than perfect

This is something I’m still working on... I have perfectionist tendencies. Here’s the thing though, overthinking can be SUCH a time suck and sometimes you just need to make decisions to get ish done. Your business is going to evolve A LOT over time so don’t get stuck before you even get started. Something that has been helpful for me is thinking about things in phases. I prioritized the design on my website based on the things I absolutely needed to get up first and saved some of the pages and other cool things I was to do in the future for later. That way I was able to get my website up without waiting to finish all of the other things!

Community is everything

Helping other business owners is at the core of our work at Going Bold Studio so this is even more important. No matter what business you are starting though, showing you care about your community matters! People are choosing to work with you or buy your products over big box stores because of you! Show that you care. For me, that is making sure I’m replying to social media comments, engaging with our audience and giving back in our Facebook community.

Get started building your email lists

You don’t need to know everything about email marketing but definitely start building your lists from the get-go. I recommend identifying the different audiences you have, creating simple opt-ins for each, and start building your lists. You don’t need to have it all figured out but building these lists will help you be more efficient down the road.
